B i o g r a p h y

Montserrat Gascon studied flute with Salvador Gratacós in Barcelona and with Willy Freivogel in Sttutgart, Germany, going on to study the baroque traverso flute with Alain Polak.
She has attended master classes given by Jean-Pierre Rampal, Alain Marion, Wilbert Hazelzet, Marc Hantaï, Jordi Savall, Rolf Lislevand, Hopkinson Smith, etc.

She has performed at well-known concert halls such as Palau de la Música Catalana (Barcelona), Auditorio Nacional (Madrid), United Nations (New York), Caruth Auditorium (Dallas), L'Auditori in Barcelona, Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (Madrid), Cairo Opera House (Egypt), Gran Teatro of La Habana (Cuba), Nostiz Palast in Prague (Czech Republic), Helferei Hall in Zürich (Switzerland), Moscow’s Chaliapin Hall (Russia), Teatro Nacional Ruben Darío in Managua (Nicaragua), Teatro San José in Costa Rica, Teatro Nacional de Panamá  and many others. She has recorded for radio and television in Europe, America and the Middle East. She has brought out six CDs. Montserrat currently teaches chamber music at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya  (ESMUC).

 
She holds a Master degree in Early Music Performance and a doctoral dissertation (PhD) in Claude Laurent's cristal flutes (1774-1849) from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Montserrat offers concerts with an original  5-key crystal flute by Claude Laurent  (Paris, 1823).
